Legal Program

Stand Up Placer is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to empowering Placer County survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking to heal from the trauma and create new lives of strength and self-sufficiency. We take pride in our community, engaging and inspiring Placer County residents to end the legacy of abuse.

Stand Up Placer began in 1974 as a grassroots, volunteer-led rape crisis line. Today, we are governed by a volunteer board of directors with paid staff members and volunteers working together to provide around-the-clock services to victims of abuse and their families.

Stand Up Placer firmly believes that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence.

We provide services to victims of the crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking in Placer County. All of our services are free and confidential. 

We provide many important services such as  a 24-Hour Crisis Line, Text and Chat, a pet friendly emergency shelter, legal assistance, peer counseling and advocacy as well as support groups. 

About Our Legal Team & How You Can Help

We are fortunate to have a Legal Team that includes a staff attorney and paralegal. Our Legal Team also relies on crisis intervention certified volunteers to provide court hearing accompaniment, legal research and document preparation. 

Our Legal Team also welcomes pro-bono consulting attorneys on a case-by-case basis with these areas of specialization: Tax Law, Immigration, Business Law and Employment Law. 

Please note: You must be crisis intervention certified to assist our Legal Team due to the nature of confidential client information and direct client interaction.
