WHY COMMUNITY EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING ARE IMPORTANT: Community
outreach is vital to the prevention of domestic violence, sexual assault and
human trafficking.
These events help raise awareness of problems many do not believe happen in their communities. As a non-profit, Stand Up Placer relies upon donations and these events are vital to our continued success.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AS AN EVENT SUPPORTER:
- Assist our Development Department staff with event coverage.
- For each event, there will be multiple and fun ways to volunteer.
- Volunteer opportunities can include: delivering event items to the venue; decorating and setting up the event; greeting attendees; staffing our information table; to being an auction runner.
- All training will be provided.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- A working knowledge of Stand Up Placer mission and services.
- A warm and engaging presence and a love of working with a team.
- The ability to be calm under pressure and have a good sense of humor.
- Experience in staffing fundraising events a plus.
- Accept and work with staff and volunteers from diverse personal and cultural backgrounds.
YOUR VOLUNTEER IMPACT:
For every hour you volunteer as an Event Supporter, we receive $24/per hour in grant funding match. This is very significant and helps us in meeting our grant requirements. Our Development Team absolutely relies upon volunteer support to create and execute fun and successful fundraising events.
