Who We Are

The tight link between domestic violence and homelessness – Redlands Daily Facts

Stand Up Placer is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to empowering Placer County survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking to heal from the trauma and create new lives of strength and self-sufficiency. We take pride in our community, engaging and inspiring Placer County residents to end the legacy of abuse.

Stand Up Placer began in 1974 as a grassroots, volunteer-led rape crisis line. Today, we are governed by a volunteer board of directors with paid staff members and volunteers working together to provide around-the-clock services to victims of abuse and their families.

Our Mission Statement

Saving lives by empowering survivors and educating communities to stand up to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Our Vision Statement

Ending domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Placer County.

Our Philosophy

We are mission-driven; survivor-centered; trauma-informed and empowerment based.

Stand Up Placer firmly believes that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence.

About Our Housing Program

Our Housing team provides vital services to our clients fleeing a violent environment. In a new report from University of California’s Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative says physical violence during the six months before becoming homeless was a major reason for almost one-tenth of all homelessness in California. Additionally, a new study found that a staggering 8% of the unhoused experienced interpersonal violence and stated that they would rather be unhoused than remain in an abusive environment.

To combat that problem, our Housing Program not only helps our Safe House clients transition to stable housing after their stay with us but also helps clients that have unstable housing situations.

Our Housing Program can help with housing establishment costs such as help with deposits, first month’s rent, utility deposits, etc. The program also assists with providing household items such as furniture, cleaning supplies, dishes, appliances and cookware.

Other vital services our Housing team provides is home visits to clients providing practical and emotional support. The team also provides online support groups and practical skill building such as financial health.
